Students in Algebra I may complete this packet of questions that will replace TWO homework grades during the fifth six weeks.

Here is the two-part question...
a. Most of you are aware of the period table of elements. It has symbols that represent the names of elements. Here's your challenge: find TWO words of at least four letters that can be spelled using the symbols on this table. The letters must be in the same order as it is on the table. Then you must tell me what elements you used. Here's my example (that you cannot use):

Li + Fe = Life
The elements I used were Lithium and Iron.

I have also found a word using FOUR elements. Maybe you will find it as well...

b. Simplify the following expression. Then, tell me what does the expression equal to if x = 11?

-5(x - 3) + 4(2 - x) - 3x

1. You have 15 questions to answer.

2. Only students that were absent on Friday, March 12, 2010 can receive full credit on this test.

3. If you are using this test as a make-up due to failure, the highest grade you can get on it is a SEVENTY (70). You can miss a maximum of FOUR (4) questions to pass the test.

Spring Break Extra Credit

I hope that each and everyone of you enjoy your Spring Break!

Below are links to the extra credit puzzle that yours truly has created. Be sure to read the instructions on the first page to understand how the game works.

To receive credit for this puzzle, you must turn it in by Monday, March 22, 2010 at 3:45 PM.

Turning it in will give you a 100 on a homework grade. If you complete one board, you will receive an additional homework grade. If you complete two boards, you will also receive a QUIZ grade. If you complete all three boards, you will also receive a TEST grade.
